The Colston Hall was fit to bursting last night as more than 600 pupils from 17 primary schools took part in a huge concert.

The 34th annual Music Association of Woodspring Schools Concert included items performed by a choir of more than 350 children, supported by dancers and three instrumental groups including a string orchestra, wind band and guitar ensemble.

The music came from some of the music world's biggest names, past and present.

First, the choir sang a selection of Queen favourites, next the string orchestra performed an Abba tribute, then the choir sang Rule the World and Shine by Take That.

This was followed by Queen's Radio Ga Ga from the guitars and finally a medley from the Abba musical Mamma Mia!, written by Bristol's Catherine Johnson, performed by the massed choir.

Pupils from All Saints primary, Mary Elton primary, St John's primary, St Nicholas Chantry primary and Yeo Moor junior schools in Clevedon took part, along with Crockerne Primary School in Pill, Backwell Junior School, Tickenham Primary School, St Mary's Primary School in Portbury, Golden Valley primary, Grove junior, Kingshill primary and St Francis primary in Nailsea and High Down junior, St Barnabas primary and St Peter's primary in Portishead.
