19 year old speaks up for elderly
Paige OBrien from Downend, who cares for her Great Grandad living in Fishponds set up a campaign 'Elderly still exist'. After seeing a rise in crime and anti-social behaviour in the local area, where racism and elderly members of the community were being singled out, Paige decided to take actions.
Paige, from Downend said: "After supporting my local Police Officers and PCSOs, I realized how fast crime and anti-social behaviour is on the rise in Fishponds. Knowning so many victims that are being singled out, knowing how it made me and my family feel, I knew something had to be done."
"From youths 'hanging out' on street corners drinking, smoking, playing music and making large amounts of noise at unsociable hours to stones being thrown at windows, hedges being crushed and general damage to properties was what gave me the motivation to 'get up' and do something!"
Nicki Davies, also a support role to PCSOs said: "I think it's great having a young adult like Paige working for us. She brings fresh, innovative ideas to team meetings. Paige is a great inspiration to many people, she keeps the team young!"
