The Manor House at Didmarton, near Badminton, in Gloucestershire, is a remnant of the original, much larger house built in about 1600 for the Codrington family, who subsequently built nearby Dodington Park.

The E-shaped wings were demolished in the 18th century, when the house became the rectory for nearby St Lawrence's church.

The house was extended and altered in the 19th and early 20th centuries and is now in need of comprehensive renovation – and is for sale for £2 million.

Described as an important Grade II-listed property, it is in an attractive setting near the village, with unspoilt views across the Badminton estate.

Inside are a number of rooms with high ceilings overlooking the gardens. The large hall, with its flagstone floor and marble fireplace, gives an excellent first impression and both the dining room and drawing room have painted panelling. Beside the kitchen is a pantry, larder and boot room.

The first floor, reached by a handsome oak staircase with carved banisters and handrail, comprises three principal bedrooms, two of which have dressing rooms and en suite bathrooms. On the second floor are four further good-sized bedrooms and a bathroom.

At the rear of the house, and attached to the double garage, is the cottage, which is currently let on an assured shorthold tenancy at a rent of £650 pcm.

To the East is an impressive Grade II-listed barn, built of Cotswold stone and dating from the 18th century. There is also a smaller stable building which it may be possible to convert to alternative uses. At right angles to the main barn is a long range of open-fronted former byres enclosing a grass courtyard.

Large mature gardens and grounds provide excellent privacy and include a long lawn bordered by a yew hedge leading down to a ha-ha adjoining the paddocks.

On the West side is a rose garden, and beyond this a kitchen garden leading through to an orchard. There is also a large, partly-walled garden with long herbaceous borders.

Below the garden is a paddock and beyond this a larger field with a field shelter, ideal for horses.
