12.15: Batman star faces police quiz
By Eva Jones
Batman star Christian Bale is to be quizzed today by police over an alleged assault on two West women in his London hotel suite.
The allegation was made by the Dorset bred actor's mother and sister before the European premiere of The Dark Knight in the West End last night — but police decided not to intervene in order not to spoil the first-night celebrations.
Instead they are expected to question
Bale, 34, today over the incident at the
Dorchester Hotel.
Bale's mother Jenny, 61, and sister
Sharon, 40, who lives in Dorset, went to
a police station in Hampshire yesterday
to lodge the allegation of assault.
The matter was referred to the
Metropolitan Police.
One source said: 'It would have been
wrong to wreck the premiere over a complaint which we do not yet know is
founded in truth. Mr Bale will be contacted at the earliest opportunity and
be asked to provide an account of what
happened.'
Scotland Yard said: 'We can confirm
that we have received an allegation from
another force in relation to an incident in
central London.'
The alleged assault happened on Sunday — the same time as another drama that cast its shadow over the premiere.

Peaches Geldof, one of the guests at the screening, was reportedly treated by
paramedics after a suspected drugs overdose at her flat in Islington.
Bale has been married to Sibi Blazic, a former personal assistant to Winona Ryder, for eight years, and they have a three-year-old daughter Emmaline.
The star, who plays Batman in the movie, is now based in Los Angeles.
Bale was born in Haverfordwest in South Wales, to the late David Bale, an activist and businessman, and his second wife Jenny James, a circus performer. He has two older sisters, Sharon and Louise, and a half-sister Erin from his father's first marriage.
Christian Bale as Batman in The Dark Knight
After leaving Wales aged two Bale spent his childhood moving around, including periods in Portugal, the US, and four years in Dorset.
He first appeared on the big screen in 1987 aged just 13 in the Spielberg-directed epic Empire Of The Sun.
Seven years later in 1994 he was cast in his first adult film role, as Laurie in Little Women, alongside Winona Ryder. Bale was then cast over Leonardo DiCaprio in the controversial movie American Psycho in 2000.
He next appeared in Captain Corelli's Mandolin, followed by a starring role in the science fiction thriller Equilibrium, and earned rave reviews for The Machinist, for which he shed a third of his body weight to go down to just nine stone.
But it was in the 2005 blockbuster Batman Begins that Bale became a mainstream movie star. He will next appear as John Connor, in Terminator Salvation, due out next year.
